The instrument came with a bench which has served us well. However, it has a big drawback being too low with legs that are not very stable. It's a very nice looking stool with a leather top, also vintage, but we need something that is functional - not just beautiful.
As the description shows, there are two main features that I've been looking for. We need to be able to change the raise or lower the chair to suit the height of a person using it (one of us is taller than the other, and sitting too low can damage one's back). The other thing is that it needs a compartment under the seat for notes and other bits and pieces used by a piano player.
So once I decided to get a new stool I started looking - in music shops we have in the area as well as online. Local shops didn't have much of a choice, but I could find quite a few very nice benches on the internet. I've been looking for the two main features I've mentioned earlier, prices, as well as the number of stars and reviews. Eventually, I've come up with a shortlist of the following 5 options with number one being my favourite at the moment.
